Immortalized in the name Tito Vilanova Barca Training Centre
Barcelona – Barcelona presented a special award for his former coach, Tito Vilanova, who died last year from cancer. His name is immortalized as the name of the main squares in the center of the Blaugrana training.
Vilanova died on April 25 last year due to cancer of the parotid kelejar. His figure can not be sidelined away from the golden age under Pep Guardiola’s Barca.
Vilanova was Guardiola’s assistant when carrying Barca won 14 trophies in just four years of coaching. When Guardiola retreat in 2012, Vilanova was believed to be the successor Barca as it is considered very understanding of conditions and the ability of the team.
He successfully won the Spanish league title in his first season, before later resigned because of a physical condition that is not allowed.
To remember the services Vilanova, Barca then perpetuate his name as the name of the main squares in the Joan Gamper training complex.
“Tito love coming here. He once said that it is an honor to train the best team in the world and he loved the players,” said Vilanova wife Montse Chaure on Barca’s official website.
“This is the best way to remember, everyone gathered together with a smile,” he added.
Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu said that he wanted all his club-trained players to know who it is Vilanova.
“From now on, all the generations who come to practice at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper will know who Tito Vilanova,” said Bartomeu.
